Yuba City, CA – August 11th (Results)

The Inspirational Country Music Association made it’s third stop for the Nashville Talent Showdown on Saturday at Crossroads Community Church in Yuba City, CA. It was a great day of teaching, mentoring, and competition with some amazing talent.

Chad Bushnell took home first place. Chad is an up and coming country singer from Red Bluff, CA. He has been performing since he was a young boy and currently travels throughout the west performing an energetic mix of new and old country covers along with his originals. Chad was a top 3 finalist in the American Country Star contest in 2014 and has been the winner of the Best of the North State Band award for 2015, 2016, and 2017. He impressed the judges with his original song “What The Good Lord Can Do”.

Rachel Steele claimed second place. Now based in Sacramento, Rachel grew up in a small town in Northern California, where she immersed with music at an early age, singing barbershop harmonies with her mother, aunt, and grandmother. Country artists like Shania Twain, Martina McBride, the Dixie Chicks, and Amy Grant were big early influencers who have played a part in Rachel developing her own personal style. For the competition, Rachel sang an original song called “Addicted”.

Third place went to Dennis Gilmore. Dennis has been touring since he was 13. He worked as the house band at the Silver Dollar Saloon in Vegas and the Merle Haggard band at the Silverthorn Resort, and played at President George Bush’s Inaugural party in 2001. Dennis became a Christian 5 years ago and serves in the music ministry at “The House” in Modesto, CA. He hopes to be a Christian artist. Dennis wowed the judges with his performance of “Chain Breaker”.

Judges for the Nashville Talent Showdown in Yuba City were Jeff Bates, Lisa Daggs, and Chuck Day. Ronnie Horton was the Emcee for the event. Buddy Jewell was unable to attend due to a prior obligation. The event was hosted by Pastor Jim Clark, and lunch was provided by Tracey’s Diner in Marysville, CA.

The first place winner will advance on to the finals on November 10, 2018 in Nashville, TN to compete for the Grand Finale Title of the Nashville Talent Showdown Winner. The Grand Finale Winner will get the opportunity to perform during the 24th Annual Inspirational Country Music Awards at the Grand Ole Opry House on April 4, 2019 in Nashville.

Future Regional stops for the Nashville Talent Showdown will be AR, NM, and KY all leading up to the Grand Finale in Nashville, TN.
